Why the default PHP Version of CentOS is too old?

There's no sense keep an old version that already reached the end of life and can binding the security of system.
I know that is possible to manually update using another repositories, but would be better to use the official repositories of CentOS.
The PHP 7.0 is already reach the end of life in January 10, 2018. (http://php.net/eol.php)

Please developers, upgrade PHP in the next releases!

The version of php that is shipped with CentOS is the same as the one shipped with RHEL. That is fully supported by Redhat until the EOL date of the distribution in 2024. It is not unsupported.

CentOS does not control what packages Redhat decide to ship with RHEL. CentOS is a rebuild of RHEL so use the same packages as RHEL does.
