Upgraded to Centos 7 and getting a i8024: no controller foun

Post by daleg » 2015/02/26 14:13:25

Hello,

I upgraded one of my servers ( Centos 6.3 or Centos 6.6) to Centos 7 because I need a kernel 3.6+ for certain video capture devices ...
I did get some errors during the upgrade but mostly informational .... Now it boots up in emergency mode with a "[ 1.465749] i8042: No controller found" st the top of the screen .... the server is a Dell Poweredge R210II i5 rackmounted server ..... how can I get past this.

I really want to try the upgrade path because I have 40 servers running Centos 6.3.

Thanks in advance

Dale G.

Just adding more information

From an upgrade it seems like it goes to emergency mode because i8042: no controller found

From a fresh install the same message pops up but continues past it

So my question is "Can emergency mode be configured?" or "Can emergency mode be turned off or bypassed?

Thanks

Dale G.

Reboot and remove rhgb quiet from the kernel command line so that you can see what the real error is.

Any updates on this issue? I have no clue whats going on, and it happened after upgrading to Cent OS 7.

How to remove rhgb quiet from kernel command line? Can you please provide instructions? Do I need to recompile kernel?

Thanks in advance.

Hit ESC when you see the grub menu, edit the kernel command line from there.
