Using Vault Repositories

Post by pschaff » 2012/03/23 23:51:54

Now that most mirrors are dropping CentOS-4, if remaining users still need to access yum repos then edit /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo, comment out mirrorlist directives, and in each enabled section add baseurl=$basearch, baseurl=$basearch, etc.

There will be no more updates, security or otherwise. Everyone still using CentOS-4 should be planning a migration to a supported release. If it is absolutely necessary to continue to run the obsolete release, then consider installing a supported released and running it via virtualization, allowing virtual instances to be easily snapshotted and restored if compromised.
