Wine 32-bit on a 64-bit CentOS
Wine 32-bit on a 64-bit CentOS
Hello, I'm considering setting up a CentOS box as my home desktop. I just looked up the FAQs and started an extensive search with Google, but found no definite information, whether wine 32-bit can be installed on a 64-bit CentOS system. Before I start, I need a confirmation if and how this can be done.
Thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot.

Can be install.
But why are you trying an emulator like third party package before searching it in the main repositories ? Could you more informative on this ?
It is always best to look for a package in the main repositories first.
There are other many Additional Resources repositories available for various software.

Re: Wine 32-bit on a 64-bit CentOS
I agree with you about the main repositories. However, from what I've found out, wine is not part of the main repos. Wine stable 1.0.1 is part of the EPEL repository, and this just as a 32-bit package. But since I have a 64-bit CentOS 5.4 lying around, I wonder if a 32-bit wine is easy to install on such a system (dependencies).

There is no 64-bit WIne, and the 32-bit version will work on x86_64 if you have the default 32-bit multi-arch compatibility packages installed. I use CrossoverOffice so have no direct experience, but the EPEL i386 package should work. It is available in their x86_64 repo.
