That's a Debian/Ubuntu package and it doesn't exist in CentOS. Perl in CentOS is packaged differently than in Debian/Ubuntu.

The "" file that the Debian package "libperl-dev" provides comes with the base perl package in CentOS.
The .so file is placed in the architecture-specific perl library path somewhere below [font=Courier]/usr/lib{,64}/perl5[/font].

You can print out the exact path using
[code]perl -MConfig -e 'print "$Config{archlib}\n"'[/code]For example, on a 64-bit CentOS 5.2:
[code]$ perl -MConfig -e 'print "$Config{archlib}\n"'

In order to get the right compiler and linker flags, refer to this article: [url=]embedded perl[/url] and use
something like
[code]gcc -o myprogram myprogram.c `perl -MExtUtils::Embed -e ccopts -e ldopts`[/code]
