Here's how to Install Firefox 2 on CentOS 5:
1. Download firefox-2.0.0.3.tar.gz or later from http://www.getfirefox.com to Desktop
2. Exit firefox 1.5
3. In an su command window, extract the archive to /usr/local: tar xvf Desktop/firefox-2.0.0.3.tar.gz -C/usr/local/lib/
4. Get a dependency: yum install /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5
5. loose old plugin folder: mv /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins-1.5
6. Link to new plugin folder: ln -s /usr/local/lib/firefox/plugins /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
7. Rename old launcher: mv /usr/bin/firefox /usr/bin/firefox15
8. Link to 2.0 launcher: ln -s /usr/local/lib/firefox/firefox /usr/bin/firefox
9. Click the web browser link - you're in 2.0!

2. From playerhq.hu, download the Binary Codec Packages,
as of now this link
3. Extract the files tar xvf Desktop/essential-20061022.tar.bz2 /usr/local/lib

Where do you get mplayer?
Regarding codec ... why not "all" rather than "essential"?

Re: Install Firefox 2 on CentOS 5
mplayer can be installed by adding Dag's repo (rpmforge) by following the directions here:
http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/FAQ.php#B
When done installing the rpmforge-release package type: yum install mplayer mplayerplug-in
Codecs can be found here: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html
or here if prefer rpm packages: http://rpm.pbone.net/ enter the search term; mplayer-codecs
get the mplayer-codecs-20061022-1.i386.rpm and mplayer-codecs-extra-20061022-1.i386.rpm files.
Install: rpm -Uvh mplayer-codecs*.rpm
FYI: the mplayerplug-in package is nice for watching videos using firefox or seamonkey.
