[RESOLVED] devel packages?

Post by some_guy » 2011/07/14 21:51:30

Hi All,

Just curious if anyone knows - I see a lot of packages without their accompanying -devel packages in CentOS 6.0. Like, I'll see "gbdm" in the repos, but I couldn't find "gbdm-devel". Same for a bunch of other packages. I'm able to find the devel packages at Scientific Linux repos, or other places, but was just wondering if this was an oversite, if TUV isn't including them, or if I'm missing something?

Thanks for any insight,

Actually, I think I see the problem. We downloaded the CentOS 6.0 DVD iso images, which we are using for the "os" repositories for each i386 and x86_64. It seems that the "Packages" directory on the iso images, which are supposed to have the same data as the online "os" repositories, have much less. For example, on the DVD iso I cannot find libffi-devel, but in the online "os" repository I can indeed find it. The runtime binary package "libffi" exists in both locations, but I cannot find the -devel one on the ISO image.

Is this intentional? I don't remember it being the case in the past, with CentOS 5.x and what-not... Are the ISO images the latest ones? Wil the be updated to reflect all the correct packages?

Thanks for any insight,

Nevermind, I clearly am slow. The packages I was missing were on the second DVD ISO. Once I mounted both, our repos are full.
