some bugs exist both in rhel6.1 and centos 6!

Post by iamybj » 2011/07/13 23:49:33

I ever used rhel 6.1 for several days, but I find some bugs on that system, so I turned on centos.
But the bugs still exist.
1, virtualization can not use. I installed virt-manager package, it needs kvm and qume-kvm packages, kvm can be installed but qume-kvm is missing. And I cannot connect to the localhost when you add a new virtual machine, It reported the libvirtd service is not running but it is running.
2, Oracle 11gR2 cannot run on rhel6.1 and centos 6. I can only install oracle software on system. but when create database, the java virtual machine crashed. just like :
[oracle@lh520 ~]$ dbca
#
# An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x9d6e83e4, pid=10164, tid=3075786432
#
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (1.5.0_17-b02 mixed mode)
# Problematic frame:
# C [libnnz11.so+0x3c3e4]
#
# An error report file with more information is saved as hs_err_pid10164.log
#
# If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit:
#
Aborted
3, network-manager errors! When you add a new DSL connection by network-nameger, if you check the "Available to all users", there will be a mistake. if you don't check that checkbox, there is no mistake.

Since it is the CentOS aim to produce an operating system that is compatible, bug for bug, with the upstream RHEL version, finding the same bugs on CentOS as on RHEL is not surprising.

Your second issue looks suspiciously like the one reported here on an oracle forum and they attribute that to trying to install the 32 bit version of Oracle on a 64 bit o/s. Is that your situation?

My machine's CPU is AMD 64bit type.
The Centos 6 system I installed is 32bit.
And Oracle 11gR2 is linux X86 Version.
I found the last reply of that thread said he install 32bit os on a 64 bit machine. Does this matter ? AMD 64bit CPU is comatible with 32bit os.

The 32-bit version of the OS will run fine on x86_64/AMD64; however, kvm (qemu-kvm) is only supported on the x86_64 64-bit version, so I don't see how you can have installed kvm on the 32-bit OS release.
