Try vblank_mode=0 glxgears
CentOS 6 died in November 2020 - migrate to a new version!

CentOS 5 is dead, do not use it.

For Nvidia, it would be __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=0 glxgears. But glxgears isn't a useful benchmark anyway. And 300 fps is a strange number unless you really have a 300 fps display.
