Centos 7 end of life

Post by ashwinash » 2021/02/15 08:24:07

Urgent help please , as centos 7 wiki is showing its full updates are done in Q4 and now maintaince support will be there til 2024. I have a production server which is centos 7 and its http and https are exposed, so my question is do i need to migrate the centos 7 to centos stream 8 ? and also if maintainance support is available till 2024 will i get the web server updates (apache) and other security updates ?

RHEL 7 will continue to receive security updates until it goes EOL in 2024. As far as is currently known, CentOS will continue to rebuild those updates and release them for CentOS 7 too.

In the final years of the distro life, Red Hat have always tended to concentrate on only those updates that are marked as Critical or Important though there are others that also get fixed too.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
