The x570 is brand new, CentOS 7.8 and 8.1 date from early this year. Sounds like the new hardware is not recognized entirely.
You could try 8.2 or wait for CentOS 7.9 or 8.3 to arrive.

I have the same exact issue! I have an x570 MB and a 5600X CPU and after the upgrade, it messed up the OS and I cannot install CentOS anymore. I installed Ubuntu 20 for now but I need CentOS 7 because a bunch of stuff I use needs specific versions (like GCC 4.8.5) which is a pain to install manually (IF you can even install them)
I really hope they give an update soon!!!

You might be able to run CentOS in VM.

Are you sure that the requirement is hard-coded with version number and not about features that GCC 4.8.5 did provide?

A websearch got one hit about "BIOS version" being cause of a "bug".

I don't like running a VM. I need all the resources since I do heavy data analysis and running a VM is not really a good idea. I always do dual boot on two SSDs.
It could be the features in 4.8.5 but it's hard to know. I have workaround to survive but I hope CentOS puts a new version out soon to deal with this issue!!
My Bios version is F31e which I believe is the latest since they installed it a week ago to be compatible with the new AMD CPUs.

Contrary to what's posted above, the X570 is not new, it's going on for about 18 months old. The cpu is new however. And I've installed CentOS 8 on an Asus Prime X570-Pro desktop board even though I didn't keep it running due to several pieces that I wanted that were unsupported (I use Fedora 32). My CentOS 8 install was on an older 3700x so that may be the difference.

Does it help at all if you append amd_iommu=pt to the kernel command line? You will also need the iommu turned on in the BIOS settings.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

True, x570 is not new, the problem gotta be from the CPU!
I have iommu turned on. We don't get access to any sort of kernel. The moment you click on "Install Centos 7" the error message shows up and it crashes!

You hit tab or 'e' on the line that says "Install CentOS 7" and it lets you edit the kernel command line. Which key is dependent on legacy bios == tab, UEFI = 'e' (as it's grub).

Did anybody find a solution to this problem?

I'm having the same problem also with a Ryzen 9 5950X and a Asus X570 TUF Gaming Pro (Wi-Fi).

The system has a kernel panic before I can even get into booting/installing the CentOS 7.7.1908.

Any help, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
