yum problem

Post by hans.ensing » 2020/07/27 12:45:16

i have this problem "yum"

$ yum
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:

/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/pycurl.so: undefined symbol: CRYPTO_num_locks

Please install a package which provides this module, or
verify that the module is installed correctly.

It's possible that the above module doesn't match the
current version of Python, which is:
2.7.5 (default, Aug 7 2019, 00:51:29)
[GCC 4.8.5 20150623 (Red Hat 4.8.5-39)]

If you cannot solve this problem yourself, please go to
the yum faq at:
http://yum.baseurl.org/wiki/Faq

I have search on the web this problem, but i am not able to fix it

Have you attempted to install a newer openssl or changed the python version that is installed?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

The question is, what did you do before the problem did appear?

If you did replace some system components that 'yum' depends on, then that broke you system.

(Well, things tried after the problem started can have made it worse, but the root cause was earlier.)

Yes i did, but the problem is that yum does not work anymore and gives the error.

All listed solutions on the internet requires a command with yum...so those are no option to solve the problem..
