First comes error: file '/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod' not found
Entering rescue mode...
grub rescue>_
Could not find that missing file.
I have tried many hints from the net,
but no luck.
I use an ASUS Z270-P and many users have
had problem with this motherboard.
My system has 3 HDD and one SSD-disk.
My usb-stick gave me this for 'fdisk -l' command on another pc.
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdg1 * 0 3954687 1977344 0 Empty
/dev/sdg2 172 10183 5006 ef EFI (FAT-12/16/32)
/dev/sdg3 10232 50359 20064 0 Empty
I guess the formatting is wrong on the used usb-stick!
Hope some one can give me an advice.

I will assume this is a Desktop System?!? Does it had a DVD player? Or are you using a thumb drive to do the install? If you used a thumb drive did you use the dd command?!? Or did you try and short cut using some M$ utility? See here:ostene wrote: ↑2020/05/23 10:03:54Hello,

Exactly the same method works for CentOS 7. Moreover, the CentOS 7 installer image has a special partitioning which, as of July 2014, most Windows tools do NOT transfer correctly leading to undefined behaviour when booting from the USB key.
Applications known (2019) that do NOT work are: unetbootin, multibootusb and universal usb installler - do NOT use these. Also Rufus does not work correctly if the wrong options are chosen so the tool is best avoided.
