du -h --max-depth=1 is not enough

What do you mean by "not enough"?

Takes too long and shows many mount points that do not belong to /

Not sure about the "24h", but something like:

find / -xautofs -xdev -mtime -1 -size +1G -ls

The find command also takes -mmin $mins
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
