CentOS 8 can't adjust screen brightness

Post by bwepngong » 2020/01/28 10:30:42

Hello,
I can't adjust screen brightness on my not-so-old centos 8 installation. It worked perfectly till my system crashed and displayed the famous "Oh no, something went wrong" screen. I ended up installing xorg-x11-drivers xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-340xx drivers to replace the nouveau drivers that were causing the problem. I also delete .gnome and .config files from my user home directory. My system now boots fine. Except I can't adjust screen brightness.
I have tried some solutions though they were given for centos 7 but they have not worked.

The output of

$ lspci |grep NVIDIA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK104GLM [Quadro K3000M] (rev a1)

and the output of

$ dmesg |grep -i video

Is it a laptop?
How do you expect to change the screen's brightness - for example if it's "special" keys on the keyboard, then perhaps you're using the wrong driver for the keyboard.
