CentOS8 in Private Clouds use static ip cannot ping external host

Post by ejzhang » 2020/01/14 01:02:48

I installed a CentOS8 cloud host on a private cloud server, The IP address automatically assigned to the cloud host by DHCP service of the private cloud server can ping the external host, but when i setting a static address different from the automatically assigned IP address will ping external hosts.
What is happend, thank you!

What makes you think that you could change/add addresses?

When pinging, do you use IP address or DNS name?
If the latter and you haven't done it, you have to specify DNS server(s).
