samba grumbles

Post by theotheraussie » 2020/01/10 02:03:00

just finished seting up a rpi3 to host my external drives instead of a normal desktop sized pc. i have configured samba the way i had it last time but i have 5 shares set up and i can only access 3 of them... the other 2 i cant. they are all set up identically.

i am finding this very confusing.

has anyone got some pointers?

I'd check the SELinux type on the working shares compared to the non-working shares by doing ls -lZ. Could be that the broken ones don't have the right type applied to them. If that doesn't work, you could raise the log level and hopefully get some useful error messages

do you have created the directory tree according to smb.conf? chmod them correctly? browseable = yes?

100% correct sir.

some reason it auto applied the samba share type to 3 of the 5 folders the drivers were mounted to and not 2 of them.

many thanks i can stop tearing my hair out.
