Post by lknls » 2019/12/30 13:41:33

Hello;

I'm a centos 7 user. I want to upgrade to centos 8 (if it's possible)

As far as i know, there is no official upgrading document from Centos 7 to Centos 8 .

when i made a a google search with "upgrading to CentOS 8" word, there are many sites/articles about it.

did anybody tried doing this? or is there any official documentation for this task?

Regards

There is no upgrade from one major version of CentOS to the next. It's a reinstall. Anything you find online suggesting otherwise is unsupported and wrong. Do not attempt it. The official way to "upgrade" is to install a fresh system and migrate everything to it.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
