Hi Everyone
I have an IBM Thinkpad R52 - the wireless is not working. When I use nmtui , the connection does not exist. When I run lspci --nn | grep -i net it lists the Lan connection ad the wireless connection. However , it identifies the wireless as
04.02.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2915ABG [Calexico2] Network Connection [8086:4224] (rev 05).
I am sure in previous versions of centos and debian , it used the firmware ipw2200 (They may be the same - i do not know). Can anyone help with this. I did try searching the forums for this but with no luck (to be honest , got a bit frustrated as i kept having to wait to see the next page of results)
I did install the minimum install on thsi machine (no desktop) , so maybe I have to install something else
Best regards
P.

Re: IBM R52 wifi not working with Centos 7.7
Yes, according to the device ID pairing, your device is supported by the ipw2200 driver. This is not in the CentOS kernel but you may want to try kernel-ml from ELRepo which has the driver enabled.
You may also want to file a request to have the driver enabled in the CentOS plus kernel at http://bugs.centos.org OR ask ELRepo to provide a kmod package for ipw2200 at http://elrepo.org/bugs .
