Perl Update

Post by xo)mora » 2019/11/29 20:19:54

Hi, I'm very obfuscate becuse I'm programming in Perl, but I had been some problems because I excuted:
# perl -v

This is perl 5, version 16, subversion 3 (v5.16.3) built for x86_64-linux-thread-multi

After that, I updated the Perl Version to perl-5.26.1, but I had been some problems because Perl didn't find the Perl PATH, so I needed change the variable PATH located in the file .bashrc file, but this was a bad election because the program lost another references . Please, will You tell me the correct form for update Perl in Centos 7? without change the PATH environment variable for run programs.

Thanks a lot.
Regards

We do not support replacing components that are shipped by CentOS. We ship perl 5.16 on CentOS 7 and always have and will do so for the lifetime of CentOS 7.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

You can't "update" system components to non-system versions, but you might be able to "install on side" with Software Collections:
http://linuxdesktops.soton.ac.uk/softwa ... tions.html
https://www.softwarecollections.org/en/ ... h-perl526/
