Is the samba how to setup still relevant?

I see this link to set up samba

but file

/etc/sysconfig/iptables 
doesn't exist in centos 7, can i still follow that page to set up samba?

The file only exists if you use iptables-services but the default is firewalld.

No, that article is significantly out of date. If you use firewalld then you need to open UDP port 137 and TCP port 445 with firewall-cmd - probably using either service samba-client or samba.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
