I'm attempting to install CentOS 8 on an older dell T310 server and the installer doesn't recognize the HDDs. If I run the CentOS 7 installer, the disks show up just fine and I can install it. Why is this happening?
Thanks.
Installer doesn't recognize HDD
Re: Installer doesn't recognize HDD
Apparently so. I guess I'll be sticking with 7.
Re: Installer doesn't recognize HDD
Why drivers ?
z23, any logs, messages, or something ?

Re: Installer doesn't recognize HDD
I looked up the supported drivers afterward, and RHEL did indeed drop the drivers for the hard drives on that server, so they're just not recognized. I was a bit surprised by that, the server is only 7 years old but I guess that's too old for red hat.
Re: Installer doesn't recognize HDD
Did you check to see if ELRepo have a Driver Update Disk for that module?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: Installer doesn't recognize HDD
I didn't. I didn't have a lot of time to spend messing with it so I just left it alone after the HDDs didn't show up in anaconda. I don't recall previously having to install extra drivers during the installation. How would I go about that, exactly? I don't have access to the server at the moment, but I may get back around to it at some point.
