CentOS 8 and P52 with 1.92 BIOs

Post by howncheng » 2019/10/27 15:11:33

I tried to install CentOS8 with this notebook for the company. However, whenever I pass a certain stages, the system will say" Ketne;: panic" and spill a lot of numbers and character and stall.

Can anyone help?

Usually that means the initrd image does not include the drivers required for trhe hardware (or even software, for example, for LVM or RAID etc.).

What is a P52 when it's at home?

Did you check your downloaded iso file sha256sum against the list published in the release notes to see if your download was correct? Did you write it to a USB stick and if so, how?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

P52 is Lenovo Thinkpad notebook. I have i7 8th on it.

Download file is good as CentOS 7 has the similiar problems. Only CentOS 6 can be successfully installed.

Do I need to switch to dedicated graphics in BIOS?

Thanks,

BTW, how to post a picture?
