I am running Centos 6.10.
I have run into a problem with VNC sessions on my server: At some point the keyboard loses focus and I can't type anything into any window.
This will happen in particular if I start a vncviewer into another computer (double VNC).
I think that keyboard focus is set by the window manager but when I go into System -> Preferences -> Windows
I get an error message popping up with
"Cannot start the preferences application for your window manager. Window manager 'unknown' has not registered a configuration tool"
I am using gnome as the window manager.
How can I get a configuration tool registered or if this is not my underlying problem, how can I regain the lost keyboard focus?

Re: Cannot start the preferences application for your window manager
WHY might you even try such a thing with (essentially) nested virtual environments? This will happen in particular if I start a vncviewer into another computer (double VNC).
