Re: When the CentOS 8 is available for Download ?
When it's ready.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

According to a comment in the change log by Fabian Arrotin:
"QA is normally finished, and RC tree finished too. So we should have GA tree now composed."
I hope this means that the CentOS 8 GA release should be soon..

If you are desperate, Springdale 8 is already out - you can download a net-install boot CD.
Also Oracle enterprise 8 is out (requires you to register first).
But if you tried RHEL8 beta, you would not be so impatient.
Instead, you should be asking "when will EPEL8 have some decent stuff in it, like alternative desktops"??

I have always used CentOS, never looked at Oracle Linux. Back then CentOS or RHEL made so much sense, now with IBM in the equation; Oracle isnt such a bad idea. Nowadays with containers its easy to swap the host back to whatever distro anyways.bobtheb wrote: ↑2019/09/15 13:01:39fyi, oracle linux is available from their mirrors without registration: https://community.oracle.com/docs/DOC-917963
Thanks for the tip!

According to the CentOS 8 build page, the expected release date is September 24th. That is less than one week away!
