Qualcomm Atheros AR242x / AR54sx Wireless Network Adaptor
Qualcomm Atheros AR242x / AR54sx Wireless Network Adaptor
Morning
I'm having problems getting a Qualcomm Atheros AR242x / AR54sx Wireless Network Adaptor to work under Cent1OS 7. It's comes back with it when running lspci, I've tried modprobe ath9k however I believe it is 5k thats needed. when I try probing ath5k it says the module is not found suggesting it needs to be installed. Can someone help me though the steps as Ive spent days trying.
Thanks

Re: Qualcomm Atheros AR242x / AR54sx Wireless Network Adaptor
We'll need the output from lspci -nn | grep -i net to be able to check for support.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Bad news I'm afraid, nothing supports that Atheros card in CentOS 7 and there doesn't appear to be a kmod-ath5k in ELRepo. Your Realtek card is supported by the distro r8169 module though.

According to this:
http://centos.1050465.n5.nabble.com/Cen ... 51884.html
ath5k is enabled in the elrepo kernel-lt. Might be worth a try.

Thats annoying. IIRC it is supported under 6.x. when you say it is supported under distro r8169 module, is that installing as per https://centos.pkgs.org/7/elrepo-x86_64 ... 4.rpm.html

No, I mean that your Realtek card is supported by the distro kernel 'r8169' module not by a kmod. It's just supported by the standard CentOS 7 kernel.Thats annoying. IIRC it is supported under 6.x. when you say it is supported under distro r8169 module, is that installing as per
The other poster is correct: that card is supported by the ath5k module included in ELRepo's kernel-ml package and probably is by their kernel-lt packages too.

Managed to sort it. Installed 6.10, WiFi works a treat.
Only other thing I had to do was manually install Flash Plug-in for Firefox.
Downloaded he tar.gz file, unpacked and copied the extracted folder to on the hard disk. Then coped the libflashplayer.so to

CentOS 6 has just over 1 year left until it goes out of support.
