Netinstall Link
Where can I find a list of 6.2-64 netinstall links?
Re: Netinstall Link
You should install 6.8 instead.
Re: Netinstall Link
I would like to but as I've written 6.8 keeps failing. I think the BIOS or the MOBO have exceeded their life beyond 6.2. 6.2 IS working on several other older servers that I have. I run Odin Virtuozzo and need to stay compatible with what it wants as well. These aren't major clients so I won't put them on newer, faster servers. All of my newer servers are in a managed data center that provides the hands on and I sub-contract trouble tickets that I can't handle. But the service does not include the OS. The ONLY thing different is the RAID card was upgraded.
I am a web site developer and database integrator. I'm a programmer (PHP) and will admit that you guys know far more than I do about the OS. I hate coming here asking questions because quite honestly I feel dismissed as being too stupid and I should know better. I had a full time administrator that I had to fire. At the same time my daughter was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. So now my business is barely alive and its just me -- trying to learn in a place where I don't fit in or feel welcome.
The MOBO is a Super Micro H8DAR-i with dual AMD Opteron CPU's (295's), 32MB of RAM and a 3Ware SX9550-BBU RAID controller using twin WD 2TB SATA drives. I can build them but I'm still learning Linux. I was a prolific DOS programmer.

Older release versions can be found in the Vault: http://vault.centos.org/6.2/isos/krazybob wrote:Where can I find a list of 6.2-64 netinstall links?

Re: Netinstall Link
Thank you but these are the ISO's. I need the netinstall URL from somewhere still hosting them.

It's all in the Vault, too: http://vault.centos.org/6.2/krazybob wrote:Thank you but these are the ISO's. I need the netinstall URL from somewhere still hosting them.

Re: Netinstall Link
That address seems too short for a netinstall URL. Hmm... should I do a minimal and then a yum groupinstall "Base"? This is whew re my server became unreachable.
Re: Netinstall Link
You shouldn't even be THINKING about using 6.2. It's *5* years old and vulnerable to just about every single exploit that's come along in the last 5 years.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: Netinstall Link
It's not clear what are you seeking for. Everything is there, the install ISOs and the repositories. What else do you need?krazybob wrote:That address seems too short for a netinstall URL.

Re: Netinstall Link
IT sits behind a hardware firewall with damn near every port closed. I need it for software compatibility. I know your heart is in the right place but can you accept that I know what my needs are? Let me be more clear:TrevorH wrote:You shouldn't even be THINKING about using 6.2. It's *5* years old and vulnerable to just about every single exploit that's come along in the last 5 years.
The contents are on Virtuozzo 4.7 with Plesk older versions. My new servers are all Virtuozzo {current] with Plesk {current]. In order to migrate I need to bounce some bad servers kicking off I/O errors to good servers and then to the new servers. I cannot get anything above 6.2 to work. I've tried 6.8 and it fails every time. The motherboard is an older SM H8DAR-i. I have reloaded time and again and after doing a minimal installation the NIC's aren't active. I have to do an ifdown followed by an ifup using KVM/IP to get them up. It shouldn't be that way. Since it is an older set of servers they only have CD-ROM, no DVD. The new servers are all DVD. This is all about trying to get current. I have a customer that has long standing customers that refused to upgrade because of their custom software. Once I announced I would not support ANYTHING on the server I got compliance.
Hopefully you see why I have a temporary need for 6.2. It is installed on a couple servers with identical software and they work. The ONLY change was upgrading the RAID controller to a SX9550-BBU from a 8005. All new servers are 24 thread dual XEON's with 64GB of RAM.
I know that this site is professional's and I stick out like a sore thumb. But I know what I need I just don't always know how to get there. Every URL I try for a netinstall fails. I've just read that http://vault.centos.org/6.2/ will work - it looks too short but I'll drive 100 miles and try it.
:sigh:
