HP Proliant DL380

Post by fmcardoso » 2015/03/04 15:18:01

Hi,

I need help to install Centos 7.0. I don't have success with this installation on my server:
HP Proliant DL380
2 x 36 GB HD Ultra 320 SCSI 15 k
6 GB RAM
Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz Dual Processor

I made the download of Centos on http://www.centos.org/download/. I chose the DVD ISO. On installation I tried all options ("Install CentOS 7", "Test this media & install CentOS 7" and "Install CentOS 7 in basic graphics mode") but without success.

I tested the DVD on another machine (NEC AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+, 2.41 GHz, 3 GB RAM) with success.

Thanks.

It's certain that your RAID controller is too old and is one supported by the deprecated 'cciss' kernel module. It was removed in CentOS 7. You can install CentOS 6 on that machine and it is supported until 2020. You can also read viewtopic.php?f=49&t=51302 and see if the driver disk from ELRepo mentioned there works for you.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
