Help installing FFMpeg on CentOS7

Post by nomaam » 2014/10/12 00:27:17

I am trying to install FFMpeg on CentOS 7

FFMpeg download page

https://www.ffmpeg.org/download.html

Links to

http://rpmfusion.org/

There is no instruction regarding installation so I assume that the package is provided through the Fusion repository.

I install the free / nonfree repositories without any problem.

However, when I try to use the yum command and install ffmpeg I get a slew of dependency errors. Before I start installing a bunch of stuff I wanted to ensure I am on the right path? I noticed that the last fusion repo is targeted towards CentOS 6. I thought this may cause some problems for me on CentOS7 so I have since removed the Fusion repos.

If anyone has had success with installing FFMpeg on CentOS 7 can you please advise on how to proceed?

Thank you.

Install the nux-dextop repository then run yum install ffmpeg
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
