Display Resolution

Post by mike65hill » 2014/07/08 13:38:24

Hi folks,

I'm unable to alter the screen resolution on my Dell laptop with CentOS7.

Well, not strictly true, I'm given two choices: 800 by 600 or 1024 by 768.

My native resolution is 1200 by 800; how do I achieve this lofty goal.

Many thanks

Mike

Sounds like you don't have the right driver loaded for the video card. What does lspci -nn | grep -i vga report?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Hi Trevor and thanks for responding.

I get this:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GT218M [NVS 3100M] [10de:0a6c] (rev a2)

I must confess I only installed the basic CD-sized image so I could be missing some bits and pieces.

Thanks

Mike

I suggest you head to ELRepo and see if their nvidia-detect package tells you if your card is supported by their kmod-nvidia packages

Will do. Thanks very much for the tip.

It's odd that I never had this issue with Cent OS 6.5...

You don't think I should download a larger image?

Cheers

Mike
