Any experience no MySQL and MariaDB?

Hi,

in CentOS-7 mysqld package ist not included.

Any experience with MariaDB installation, is it 100% compatible with MySQL?

It should be compatible since it's a fork of mysql
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
