Configuring https access with genkey

Post by fbartolom » 2014/05/14 15:30:36

I am trying to configure https access to my web server and so I tried to use genkey. Yet when I configure it to produce a self signed certificate when I use it to access the server I have an error, if instead I try to configure it with another certification autority it temrinates complaining with "Failed to open noise file" and not even presenting the list of authorities. Also I have the feeling the situation remains "dirty" after I delete the key and certificate to retry as each time I delete it the new certificate as a 0 before the .cert in the name. have you got any suggestion to come out of this conundrum? There is actually really little information about genkey on the internet.

Maybe this is related? viewtopic.php?t=3726
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

The thread ends with my own question...
Is it possible to also use openssl to set up an https certificate? I already use it for my push notifcations. Is there a guide you may suggest to employ this tecnology even for this business.
