Hi there,
So, I'm kind of desperated here...i'am workinf on a vmware centOS5 virtual machine, and i was installing some stuff i need (Bioperl, Snap, RepeatMaker, etc) from a moment to another, it just stoped, could not open terminal. I decided to reboot the virtual machine again, and i got this message when trying to enter with my account :
"
GDM could not write to your authorization file. This could mean you´re out of disk space or that your name directory could not be opened for writing. In any case, it is not possible to log in. Please contact your system administrator..
"
i ran #df -h and it shows that i still have tons of space on my virtual machine, as i've built it with 40Gb...
Does anyone have any idea, of what is going on?
Chees from Portugal,
Filipe

That begs the rhetorical question - what happened to the permissions? Thanks for reporting back. Marking this thread [SOLVED] for posterity.

Interesting. A while ago I've had similar issues on a server and found that /tmp was set to mode 755 and root:root. No idea how that happened.
