Post by SANJAY MAHENDRAN » 2022/03/02 08:27:34

Hi,

I would like to know which Antivirus program is compactible and works efficiently with CentOS stream 9 Servers. I was using clamAV in centos 8 but not sure whether it works on CentOS stream 9. Please advice.

Thanks

If clamav is available then it will be in EPEL as it's never been shipped as part of RHEL. Did you install EPEL and check there?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Seems to be in EPEL Next for Stream 9:

Code: Select all

[Stream-9]$ dnf -q list clamav --enablerepo=epel
Available Packages
clamav.x86_64 0.103.5-1.el9 epel

[EL8]$ dnf -q list clamav --enablerepo=epel
Available Packages
clamav.x86_64 0.103.5-1.el8 epel

[EL7]# yum -q list clamav --enablerepo=epel
Available Packages
clamav.x86_64 0.103.5-1.el7 epel

CentOS Stream 9 is effectively a pre-release of what will be RHEL 9.0. That is not out yet and there is no announced date for its release as yet (though guesswork says it's likely to be around the time of the next Red Hat Summit conference in May 2022). Until it is released it is doubtful if any third party vendors will support it as a production choice.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
