Suricata-IDS.

Hello,
I installed the Suricata-IDS on CentOS by https://www.tecmint.com/setup-automatic ... -centos-8/ tutorial. I have some questions:
1- When I launched the Suricata-IDS via that installation tutorial, is it protect my servers or just work as a monitoring service?
2- Is Suricata-IDS an IPS too?

It is for "CentOS 7, 6 and Fedora" and install from source.
