[Solved] No external internet access

Post by m0t0m » 2020/10/24 16:11:28

When I try to ping 8.8.8.8 I get 100% packet loss.
Internally on the network the server works as expected.

my /etc/sysconfig/network

Code: Select all

# Created by anaconda
and
/etc/resolv.conf

Code: Select all

# Generated by NetworkManager
search bbn net dk
nameserver 192.168.0.1
My /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethernet

Code: Select all

BOOTPROTO=dhcp
DEFROUTE=yes

Is this a VM and if so did you pick the right sort of network for it? If you selected hostonly or NAT then you may have problems like this. You should most likely be using a bridged type connection.

Nothing to do with this but your search line in resolv.conf looks quite odd.

This is not a VM. It is a laptop I am using on my home network as a server.
I can ssh into it and use the Samba drives, but the server itself cannot access the internet.

I don't know where the search line in resolv.d comes from. It is auto-generated.

Reboot fixed it.

Code: Select all

sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager
was not enough
