Connection issue with PEAP/MSCHAPv2 for enterprise WiFi in Centos 8 Stream

Post by sumantuw » 2020/07/21 06:21:17

Dear Friends,

I was a happy Centos 7 user till last week when I found a few of the software I want to use require updated libstdc++. So I decided to update the OS itself to Centos 8 Stream for Workstation (additionally installed KDE Plasma desktop as I am a KDE user). The update was done from the DVD ISO, and formated the root (/) and /boot drive but using the existing /home directory. I system is Lenovo ThinkPad L470. After the update I am having two issues with my network:

1. (Most important to resolve) I am unable to connect with my University WiFi although my residence wife is working absolutely fine. The connection of the office requires WPA 2 Enterprise with inner authentication using MSCHAPv2. We do not require any CA certificates for this. I even updated the kernel to 5.7.9-1.el8.elrepo.x86_64 thinking it may resolve the issue. But nothing helped!

2. The Wired connection is only using 100 Mbps while with Centos 7 I could get 1000 Mbps connection.

I spend a few hours with it but could not figure out anything. I am not an expert linux admin. It would be a great help if anyone can guide me to resolve this issues.

Thank you!
