Yes, that also looks possible but to fix that will need a code change and a kernel rebuild. You might want to look through the bug reports on bugzilla.redhat.com and see if there are already tickets for this and if not, report it. Since CentOS 8 uses a 4.18 kernel, for this to be the same problem as that, Red Hat would have needed to pick up the code and backport it from 5.4 to their kernel.

Looking at the kernel changelog, there does look like a fix entry that might be relevant in the 8.2 kernel changelog. Are you running that kernel?

Code: Select all

- [netdrv] iwlwifi: pcie: fix merge damage on making QnJ exclusive (Jarod Wilson) [1776606]
Unfortunately the 1776606 bugzilla entry it references is marked private and I cannot see its contents to check if it is this problem or not.

The fix I mention is listed as being part of 4.18.0-166.el8 so if the uname -r command tells you that you are running a version less than this, then it may be your problem. The easy way to get that fix would be to attach a LAN cable and run yum update and get to 8.2. Otherwise, if you have no network, you will need to download the various kernel* rpms (kernel, kernel-core, kernel-doc, kernel-modules and kernel-tools and maybe others too) from one of the mirrors, put them on a USB stick and install them manually.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

I was viewing this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kAcX9BswuA
Do you mean that a solution could be to do what is explained in this video?

I was checking with modinfo iwlwifi

Would I have to rebuild the iwlwifi.ko.xz module?

Hello,
Same problem with Intel AX201 : "No wifi adapter found"
It isn't even found in lspci, however the iwlwifi module is loaded

Code: Select all
