Post by joseluisbz » 2020/06/26 07:26:42

Hi, I was trying to install Wifi.

The Driver si located in https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... rking.html
https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/_media ... 8819.0.tgz

I done

Code: Select all

sudo cp /home/joseluisbz/Downloads/iwlwifi-9000-pu-b0-jf-b0-34.618819.0/iwlwifi-9000-pu-b0-jf-b0-34.ucode /lib/firmware

chmod +x iwlwifi-9000-pu-b0-jf-b0-34.ucode

Now my version is:

The CentOS kernel already supplies the iwlwifi module so you did not need to rebuild it. In any case, your rebuild will no longer work as soon as a new kernel is installed.

That adapter is already listed as supported by the CentOS 8.2 kernels. It was also supported by the 8.1 kernel series so I suspect your problem is not with the driver.

Do you have the NetworkManager-wifi package installed?

Your dmesg output appears to show that this is failing to load the firmware for the device. I'd suggest that you attempt to locate the versions of the firmware that it tried to load before it tried the one present on your machine (.48), either iwlwifi-Qu-b0-jf-b0-49.ucode or iwlwifi-Qu-b0-jf-b0-50.ucode

I don't think removing firmware is going to help. It looked for 2 files and failed to find them - so removing something will not help to fix that problem - and then found the 3rd one it looked for, loaded that and it crashed in the adapter and failed. That's why I suggested you look for the 2 newer firmware files that it failed to find.

[ 4.118065] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-Qu-b0-jf-b0-50.ucode failed with error -2
[ 4.118078] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-Qu-b0-jf-b0-49.ucode failed with error -2
Those 2 files are the ones it tries to load first. See if you can locate copies of those, perhaps from Intel direct.

As I understand, these firmware were tried to use and failed. But these firmwares are not, but the firmware recommended by Intel, for this reason I plan to delete them, and see if you try to use the one recommended by Intel.

I assume they are not really needed, unless the kernel really needs them.

No, it tried to load those and they did not exist. We do not supply them. The version of the firmware that we do supply does not work on your adapter. I am suggesting that you find the missing files on the Intel site and copy them to /lib/firmware so that when it tries to load them, it can find them.
