firewalld settings with Roon server

Post by mphelpsmd » 2020/02/27 23:33:48

Has anyone managed to get Roon Server (audio system) set up with Centos 8?

The initial installation was complicated by SELinux issues. Now my problem is with the firewall.

According to Roon documentation, it requires that ports 9100-9200/tcp and 9103/udp be opened up.

OK:

Code: Select all

[root@ares ~]# firewall-cmd --add-port=9100-9200/tcp
success
[root@ares ~]# firewall-cmd --add-port=9103/udp
success
[root@ares ~]# firewall-cmd --list-ports
9000/tcp 3483/tcp 3483/udp 32400/tcp 32469/tcp 8324/tcp 3005/tcp 32412/udp 32413/udp 32414/udp 32410/udp 1900/udp 5353/udp 80/tcp 9100-9200/tcp 9103/udp
[root@ares ~]#
But this doesn't work. I can't connect to the Roon server from other computers.

However, when I disable the firewall:

Code: Select all

[root@ares ~]# systemctl stop firewalld
[root@ares ~]#
Now it works!

According to the documentation, it requires multicast.

Has anyone found firewall settings that work for Roon?

As a follow-up to my post, it seems that I got one of the ports wrong; it should be 9003/udp, not 9103/udp.

So I executed:

Code: Select all

[root@ares ~]# firewall-cmd --remove-port=9103/udp
success
[root@ares ~]# firewall-cmd --add-port=9003/udp
success
[root@ares etc]# firewall-cmd --list-ports
9000/tcp 3483/tcp 3483/udp 32400/tcp 32469/tcp 8324/tcp 3005/tcp 32412/udp 32413/udp 32414/udp 32410/udp 1900/udp 5353/udp 80/tcp 9100-9200/tcp 9003/udp

This now works! So to recap, Roon requires ports 9100-9200/tcp, and 9003/udp opened up to function.
