Connection between Centos 7 and Centos 8

Post by nmrdukeman » 2020/08/28 14:04:30

Hi,
I am going to connect two PCs with a cross-over cable. It seems to me that, based on the information on internet, one of the PC's IP needs to be DHCP.
Can I connect them and communicate with static IP addresses on both?
I supposed it should not be difficult at all. Can someone point me to the right place on internet to get that information?

Thanks

Should work fine, may even work with a normal cable.

If you're connecting via crossover cable then it makes far more sense to give both sides a static ip address. Otherwise you would have to set up and configure a DHCP server which sounds like massive overkill for one system (the DHCP server has to have a fixed ip).
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
