Converting from GPT to MBR

Post by manishp » 2023/04/02 11:47:33

I have single disk with GPT partition, I tried to convert from GPT to MBR and as soon as I rebooted I am receiving the dracut prompt.
Attached herewith the screenshot.

Please advise how to repair the same.

I would simply reinstall.

I also thought the same thing but thought to get some help since there would be someone who would be able to resolve it and that might enhance my knowledge!

For a start there will be entries in each /boot/loader/entries/* file saying things like

Code: Select all

insmod part_gpt
insmod fat
set boot='hd0,gpt1'
...
  search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=boot --hint-bios=hd0,gpt1 --hint-efi=hd0,gpt1 --hint-baremetal=ahci0,gpt1 57F4-06D1
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

OK!
But how to resolve the error so that I can boot normally?

I'm not sure why you would convert from GPT to MBR format in the first place. It seems like a retrograde step.
