CentOS Stream - megaraid_sas
CentOS Stream - megaraid_sas
Upgraded to CentOS Stream from 8.5 on a Dell with PERC 5/i. 8.5 was installed with megaraid_sas. Stream will not run recognize the drives. I can still boot ok into 8.5. Is there a way to install megaraid_sas on Stream?
Re: CentOS Stream - megaraid_sas
A PERC 5 is very old so I would guess that it's been removed from support for EL9. Did it work out of the box on EL8 or did you need to install the ELRepo kmod to get it seen? ELRepo do not support Stream of any version so they will not provide a solution for that but most likely will for RHEL 9 once it is released (depending on requests, and ease of building etc).
CentOS 8 died a premature death at the end of 2021 - migrate to Rocky/Alma/OEL/Springdale ASAP.

Re: CentOS Stream - megaraid_sas
Right, so it was unsupported in 8 as well so it's unlikely to be a mistake.
The only way to get this working is to either wait for RHEL 9 GA and then for one of the clones (not Stream) to rebuild it and for ELRepo to package a new kmod series for EL9 or maybe see if a kmod is being built for this by the "kmods SIG" - https://sigs.centos.org/kmods/kmod/ - is likely to build it for Stream. A devsub subscription would also allow you to run up to 16 instances of RHEL itself so you wouldn't need to wait for the clone rebuild.

Rocky says you can migrate from Stream to Rocky:
https://docs.rockylinux.org/guides/migrate2rocky/
If you do this, run a backup first.
