Updating FWUPD

Post by ewarren » 2021/08/20 17:07:32

Good Day Everyone,
I am having a bit of an issue updating the version of fwupd. We do a Nessus scan and we receive a vulnerability hit to update from version fwupd-1.5.9-1.el8.x86_64 to version fwupd-1.5.9-1.el8_4.x86_64.

I try but it gives me an error stating "Conflicts with file from package fqupd-1.5.9.1.el8.x86_64". This is for all files listed.

I tried uninstalling the old version which required a reboot and when then the server would not boot up. I reverted the server back to its last known good state and has been stuck since.

I am turning to the experts out there for any advice.

Thanks,
Ed

The version you're looking for is the current version in the repos so just yum update fwupd should be the correct way.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
