Black screen appears when installing centos 8 but centos 9 stream can be well installed

Post by dfc » 2022/07/26 09:13:28

I have tryed to install centos 7, centos 8, centos 9.But only centos 9 can be installed.
I have already checked the checksum.Checksum is right.
Now I need to use Centos 8.Is there any way to help me solve this problem?

Does it work if you use the basic graphics option that's under the initial Troubleshooting menu when you first boot?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

I've tried, but it doesn't work.Selecting this also causes a blank screen.
I may have found the reason.Linux kernel supports the hygon cpu in 4.20,but linux kernel in Centos 8 is 4.18.

RH backport support for hardware, bug correction and some features, so vanilla kernel is vanilla kernel and red hat kernel is red hat kernel

if you want to use Centos 8 for production, then use another RH clone, Centos 8 is dead and Centos 8 stream IS NOT RHEL8 clone.

have you tried text install mode? do you need graphics?
