Centos Stream 9 shutdown issue
Stream 9 cannot be turned off
Hi,
I need an advice. I installed Stream 9 in VirtualBox 7.0.10, and the system cannot be shut down, it always just restarts. Tried poweroff button, command "shutdown -h now". Only when the command "halt" is run, the system remains in a special state, black window, but Virtualbox keeps saying that the system is running. Any incompatibility between Stream 9 and Virtualbox or special settings needed? Thanks

Re: Stream 9 cannot be turned off
I don't understand why people even try to use Stream. It's a permanent beta and breaks on a regular basis. If you don't need to see what's coming in in the next point release of RHEL then Stream is probably not for you. Use one of the RHEL rebuilds: Rocky, Alma, OEL and wave goodbye to weird issues like this.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Centos Stream 9 shutdown issue
Lastest iso published on 28th August 2023 seems to have a problem during machine shutdown. Any work around available? Or any fix planned soon?

Re: Centos Stream 9 shutdown issue
New kernel patch does not resolve this issue (362). Last "good" kernel 5.14.0-354.
Re: Stream 9 cannot be turned off
Switch back to 5.14.0-354 kernel.
X doesn't always start on boot
This is a problem once again. I have to go back two kernels to be able to shutdown my VM's again. Below is a screenshot of the kernel that works.
I get the error below.
