Hello i have just installed the newest version of centos 9 stream
Everything seems ok. I have two hard drives 250gb and a 1tb and both register and mounted. OS on the 250gb the 1tb is sda1 and mounted.
the issue I'm having is recognizing my dvd drive.
there is no /dev/sr0 to mount.
blkid gives me this.

running
cat /var/log/messages | grep sr0
gives me this
Sep 19 08:24:04 optimus kernel: sr 2:0:0:0: [sr0] scsi-1 drive
really not sure what the next step here is. I cant even open the drive, as there seems to be no power to it.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Chris
SCSI DVD not showing.
Re: SCSI DVD not showing.
Does the drive show up in /proc/scsi/scsi?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: SCSI DVD not showing.
This is what is in that file.
Attached devices:
Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: ATA Model: WDC WD10EZEX-60W Rev: 1A04
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 05
I'm not sure if thats the hard drive of the dvd drive.
a quick google says hard drive so dvd is not showing up.

Re: SCSI DVD not showing.
Sounds to me like you have a hardware problem.

Re: SCSI DVD not showing.
I had windows 11 on the machine and the dvd drive was working fine. then put centos on and drive does not work.
So I'm sure the drive is fine. Also if I turn on the machine and hit the open button on the dvd read quick it will open. If I wait for centos to load than the dvd drive will not open any more.

Re: SCSI DVD not showing.
Don't know what your problem is, but it may help if you say
what hardware you have, e.g.:
- server, make and model
- DVD-drive, make and model
- how it's connected to the system, i.e. sata/sas chipset
And what's the output of this command: uname -a
