I'm running CentOS 9 Stream with KVM/Libvirt enabled with a Windows 10 guest using an Intel NUC NUC10i7FNH...
This seems to work just fine - its nice and stable and performance is great...
But I'm getting this repeated hard console message -
KVM [3103] vcpu2, guest rIP 0xfffff806199c4992 vmx_set_msr: BTFILBR in IA32_DEBUGCTLMSR 0x1, nop...
My guess is the KVM VM is making a CPU request (MSR) which isn't supported by the chipset on the Intel NUC, and the hard console warning is about this request being refused.
I'm not sure what to do with this - should ignore it and just suppress the warning. Could this be fixed by a firmware update (I think that's unlikely) or is there some kind of CPU masking in KVM I need to engage to stop the VM making a request for an attribute that isn't available. I can't tell what the MSR is from this output...
Anyone else running on this configuration or seen this problem elsewhere?
Best Wishes
Chelle
