Hi All!
I cannot install ImageMagick on my Centos 8:

# dnf install ImageMagick
Last metadata expiration check: 0:00:27 ago on Mon 01 Aug 2022 11:32:00 AM CEST.
Error:
Problem: conflicting requests
- nothing provides libSM.so.6()(64bit) needed by ImageMagick-6.9.12.50-2.el8.x86_64
- nothing provides libICE.so.6()(64bit) needed by ImageMagick-6.9.12.50-2.el8.x86_64
- nothing provides libXt.so.6()(64bit) needed by ImageMagick-6.9.12.50-2.el8.x86_64
(try to add '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages or '--nobest' to use not only best candidate packages)

I have tried to copy these libraries from an other Centos 8 VM but this did not work.
Could you pls asvise.
Many thanks
Vincent

You would appear to be using CentOS Linux 8 which went EOL at the end of 2021 and has had no more updates since. You should look at converting your system to one of the alternatives: Rockyt/Alma/OEL or even CentOS Stream 8 though that is no longer a RHEL rebuild and is less stable.

The require that you need is in the appstream repo on Rocky 8:

Code: Select all

[root@rocky8 tmp]# yum provides 'libSM.so.6()(64bit) '
Last metadata expiration check: 7 days, 14:21:06 ago on Sun Jul 24 21:19:49 2022.
libSM-1.2.3-1.el8.x86_64 : X.Org X11 SM runtime library
Repo        : appstream
Matched from:
Other       : libSM.so.6()(64bit)
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
