Centos 8 stream update issue: Qt5

Post by mjz » 2022/05/06 14:51:57

I have two, what I thought were identical Centos 8-Stream servers. One has updated the broken Qt5 package of a few weeks ago, but the other does not. I can't seem to find out why one would update and the other not. The packages not updating only on one server are listed below.
kf5-akonadi-server-21.08.3-2.el8.next.x86_64 kf5-kdeclarative-5.88.0-2.el8.next.x86_64
kf5-ki18n-5.88.0-2.el8.next.x86_64 kf5-kirigami2-5.88.0-2.el8.next.x86_64
kf5-kxmlgui-5.88.0-2.el8.next.x86_64 qgnomeplatform-0.7.1-3.0.1.el8.x86_64
qt5-qtbase-5.15.2-2.el8.x86_64 qt5-qtbase-5.15.2-3.el8.x86_64
qt5-qtbase-5.15.3-1.el8.x86_64 qt5-qtbase-common-5.15.2-2.el8.noarch
qt5-qtbase-common-5.15.2-3.el8.noarch qt5-qtbase-common-5.15.3-1.el8.noarch
qt5-qtbase-gui-5.15.2-2.el8.x86_64 qt5-qtbase-gui-5.15.2-3.el8.x86_64
qt5-qtbase-gui-5.15.3-1.el8.x86_64 qt5-qtbase-mysql-5.15.3-1.el8.x86_64
qt5-qtdeclarative-5.15.2-1.el8.x86_64 qt5-qtdeclarative-5.15.3-1.el8.x86_64
qt5-qtgraphicaleffects-5.15.3-1.el8.x86_64
Log shows as an example:
Problem 3: package kaccounts-providers-21.08.3-1.el8.x86_64 requires libQt5WebEngineCore.so.5()(64bit), but none of the providers can be installed
- package kaccounts-providers-21.08.3-1.el8.x86_64 requires libQt5WebEngineCore.so.5(Qt_5)(64bit), but none of the providers can be installed
- package kaccounts-providers-21.08.3-1.el8.x86_64 requires libQt5WebEngine.so.5()(64bit), but none of the providers can be installed
- package kaccounts-providers-21.08.3-1.el8.x86_64 requires libQt5WebEngine.so.5(Qt_5)(64bit), but none of the providers can be installed
- package qt5-qtwebengine-5.15.6-1.el8.1.x86_64 requires libQt5Quick.so.5(Qt_5.15.2_PRIVATE_API)(64bit), but none of the providers can be installed
- cannot install both qt5-qtdeclarative-5.15.3-1.el8.x86_64 and qt5-qtdeclarative-5.15.2-2.el8.x86_64
- cannot install both qt5-qtdeclarative-5.15.3-1.el8.x86_64 and qt5-qtdeclarative-5.15.2-1.el8.x86_64
- cannot install the best update candidate for package qt5-qtdeclarative-5.15.2-2.el8.x86_64
- cannot install the best update candidate for package kaccounts-providers-21.08.3-1.el8.x86_64

Any suggestions on what I can do to trace this down? I performed a 'yum clean all' and a 'yum makecache' with no effect. The yum.repos.d directory on both servers are identical.

?

I think I am narrowing it down .... On one server I have - apparently two versions of the same package:
qt5-qtbase.x86_64 5.15.2-4.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtbase-common.noarch 5.15.2-4.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtbase-gui.x86_64 5.15.2-4.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtbase-mysql.x86_64 5.15.2-4.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtdeclarative.x86_64 5.15.2-2.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtgraphicaleffects.x86_64 5.15.2-2.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtimageformats.x86_64 5.15.2-2.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtlocation.x86_64 5.15.3-1.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtquickcontrols.x86_64 5.15.2-2.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtquickcontrols2.x86_64 5.15.2-2.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtsensors.x86_64 5.15.2-2.el8 @appstream

qt5-qtspeech.x86_64 5.15.2-4.el8 @epel
qt5-qtspeech-speechd.x86_64 5.15.2-4.el8 @epel
qt5-qtsvg.x86_64 5.15.2-4.el8 @appstream
qt5-qttools-common.noarch 5.15.2-4.el8 @appstream
qt5-qttools-libs-designer.x86_64 5.15.2-4.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtwayland.x86_64 5.15.2-3.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtwebchannel.x86_64 5.15.2-2.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtwebengine.x86_64 5.15.6-1.el8.1 @epel
qt5-qtwebkit.x86_64 5.212.0-0.60.alpha4.el8 @epel
qt5-qtx11extras.x86_64 5.15.2-2.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtxmlpatterns.x86_64 5.15.2-2.el8 @appstream
qt5-srpm-macros.noarch 5.15.3-1.el8 @appstream
and on the other server which updates fine, I have:
qt5-qtbase.x86_64 5.15.3-1.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtbase-common.noarch 5.15.3-1.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtbase-gui.x86_64 5.15.3-1.el8 @appstream

qt5-qtserialport.x86_64 5.15.3-1.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtsvg.x86_64 5.15.3-1.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtwayland.x86_64 5.15.3-1.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtx11extras.x86_64 5.15.3-1.el8 @appstream
qt5-qtxmlpatterns.x86_64 5.15.3-1.el8 @appstream
Is there an easy way to fix this?

Yes, wait. It is known to be broken and will not be fixed just yet. There was a post a few days ago to the centos-devel mailing list about it announcing that it would be broken and everyone would need to wait until it was sorted out.

But you already knew that as you have a 2nd topic open for exactly the same thing.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

I read that it would be fixed in a week, however.

Also - why is it working (updated) in one server, but not the other?

Well you have a lot more packages installed on one than the other. I also cannot see "apparently two versions of the same package" in your list - which one did you mean? Also did you see the followup post on the mailing list? https://lists.centos.org/pipermail/cent ... 20361.html

cannot install both qt5-qtbase-5.15.3-1.el8.x86_64 and qt5-qtbase-5.15.2-4.el8.x86_64
- cannot install both qt5-qtbase-5.15.3-1.el8.x86_64 and qt5-qtbase-5.15.2-2.el8.x86_64
- cannot install both qt5-qtbase-5.15.3-1.el8.x86_64 and qt5-qtbase-5.15.2-3.el8.x86_64
The above error seems to occur because there is a package conflict. The other server installed 5.15.3 with no issue. I don't know if this will resolve itself with a future Centos 8 stream update or if I have to do something to fix it locally so future updates work.

Thanks for your help!
